The varcities Project is also developing an immersive gaming experience, especially for the target audience of younger ages, is going to be presented at during Louth Science Festival in Dundalk Library on the 16th and 17th of November to invited audiences and members of the public. Developed as a citizen engagement tool, the Go Nature Game gives the public an opportunity to engage and interact with VARCITIES Pilot site through augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), thus contributing to the environmental improvement of the area through raising awareness about environmental citizenship.
The environment of the 3d model, is designed to change and adapt according to the tasks undertaken by the avatar including, duration of actions, time-of-day, period of interaction with elements (such as trees and grass), air purity, particulate matter content, climatic temperatures etc. This will be achieved by using the variety of Internet of Things (IoT) sensors deployed through the pilot area. The IoT devices help to increase immersion in the game. By incorporating real-world data into GoNature and creating new and innovative ways of interaction, players will feel more connected to the game world. GoNature Game is under development and will be finalized in the upcoming months.
During Louth Science Festival, participants will have the opportunity to test the GoNature game and visit the virtual recreation of Dundalk’s pilot site and give your feedback. YOUR SAY IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO US
